Les Beehive – Filmmaker Mack Sheppard
Drawing off such diverse inspirations as Terrance Malick, British independent film maker Shane Meadows and the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Mack’s eye for the beauty in the everyday is a unique gift. Traveling most of his life has given him the ability to see (and now film) things that most of us could never imagine. This ability to show the differences as well as the uniting sameness between cultures is what helps make his films unique. His cinematographer eye takes the moments he’s framing, moments as varied as African children at play to a Nike ad, and captures the light, the feel, the momentum that makes them shine.

His best work so far, in my opinion, is the short doc film he made called OBA-CHAN. It was featured on Vimeo’s Staff Picks and has been viewed almost 175, 000 times.
